Kimiko (Wakako Sakai) doesn't have her father, Shunsaku (Kao Tsuchiya), at home.

Her mother, Etsuko (Mitsuko Kusabue), doesn't try to bring back Shunsaku, who seems to be living with a hot spring geisha.

To cut off her interest in her father, Kimiko visits Shunsaku, who lives in a snowy region, but it's a plain, cheerful home with a beautician wife, Yukiko (Etsuko Ichihara), and two children...

Wakako Sakai, who turned twenty, stars in her first solo leading role. This film is based on Mikio Naruse's "Like a Rose" (1935) and depicts a daughter's feelings as she wavers between her parents and men.

"It can be said that this is the first hurdle that the smilingly cute Sakai must overcome to become a great actress," according to the promotional materials at the time.
